"And I just know we'll have a good time..." Runaway - Janet Jackson
I must admit, I have been a bit neglectful in my musical playground last week and weekend. There were no shows or interviews done on my end. I needed to get away for a hot minute and do me. I was up in DC doing it up with my girl Vivrant Thang and wow, I had a ball. Great company, amazing museums (that Smithsonian is no joke) and great vibe all around. I will be going back soon, that's for sure.
In short, I did attend the exhibit Road To Freedom at The Smithsonian. If you happen to be in DC anytime soon, please check it out. It is a riveting display of photos from a time where Martin, Rosa, Coretta and everyone else fought for our rights and freedom and paved a way for Mr. Barack Obama to overcome the odds and become That One in The White House.
I had goosebumps when I left the exhibition. The Maverick and I also attempted to snap a few shots in a "NO PHOTOGRAPHY" zone and where eyed by security after like white on rice. Here is my favorite that I happened to get a snap of.
I will be back to my musical self as soon as I get back in order. So much to do, so little time. But what else is new? Story of my life and everyone else's.
Flashback of the day: I had to go all J.T. on ya. No, not Justin Timberlake. Lawd. This is one of my favorite Kool & The Gang tracks. I loved me some J.T. back then...
See y'all soon...
